About Sahar

Sahar received her BBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University, in 2011 with a specialization in marketing. After graduation, she began working at CIBC, where she led the product marketing for the President’s Choice Financial brand. Sahar later moved on to become Manager of Sponsorship Marketing and helped shape the marketing campaigns for several of CIBC's sponsorship properties, including the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, a national event in support of breast cancer research which takes place across 63 communities in Canada. Sahar currently serves as the Social Strategist for TEDxToronto, Canada’s largest TEDx event.

Project Abstract

Quantum computation has the potential to transform the way various Canadian industries do business. Unlike classical computers which are binary, computers built using the principles of quantum mechanics are non-binary, meaning they can perform several complex tasks simultaneously and at an exponentially faster speed. Sahar's research analyzes the potential impact of quantum computing’s capabilities on specific industries within the Canadian economy over the next 10+ years. The focus will be to understand which industries should be prioritized for investment by the government in order to ensure Canada remains a leader within the Quantum Computing space.The research will also aim to highlight any barriers to entry for this burgeoning technology and identify the challenges and opportunities they may bring for the Canadian economy.
